'Hotel Hanabun was a great ryokan experience! It is nestled in the mountains offering a peaceful getaway from touristy/crowded areas. It had the best onsen water, even the locals went there to bathe! The hosts and staff are all friendly and accommodating to your needs. Google translate was necessary to communicate, but everyone is very patient. The food was incredibly delicious, and they use locally sourced, fresh ingredients. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a cozy ryokan. '

'I wish I could give more than 5 starts in every category. Yuki, Yukiko, and David were all incredible. I booked this thinking it would be a nice hotel/ryokan and left with tears of joy, warmth, and happiness. The team here was so hospitable that this is also an understatement. This is a small business so it doesn't feel corporate but as if you are in their home (in the best of ways). Beyond this, I haven't slept on a more comfortable bed and pillow in ages. 'We verbleven slechts 1 nacht hier, het is een basic accommodatie, maar zeer netjes en goed onderhouden in een familiale sfeer. De kamers zijn klein, maar schoon. Het geheel komt een beetje gedateerd over, maar is perfect in orde. Het ontbijt was was gewoon goed, niets speciaals. Zeer vriendelijke en behulpzame mensen. Het hotel ligt wel een eindje van de dorpskern van Akakura, toch zeker 15 minuten wandelafstand. Prijs/kwaliteit was perfect in orde.'

'Country Inn Canadian House exceeded our expectations; it is classy and down to earth. Masao and Yasuko are fabulous hosts. Meals were nutritious and delicious. All rooms/facilities were comfortable and clean. Masao provided shuttles to and from town, the slopes, and the train station. We would definitely stay there again. '

'Had a terrific relaxing couple nights. The best beds we've yet had to sleep on. Bedding was super comfortable as well. The included breakfast was great. Western style. Lake around the property is nice to walk, has several good food options. The 7-11 is an easy 10 min walk to get drinks and snacks. And the fellow at the resort gave us a quick lift to the train station for the next leg of our journey. Really enjoyed our stay. '

'This place is a great discovery. The hosts offer a warm and gracious hospitality. The jazz music they play in the common area is excellent. 'Great place near ski lifts. Restaurants and bars all walking distance. Super friendly staff. Run by Australians. If you are looking for Japanese culture don’t go here. I would definitely recommend. For kids also great, lots of activities in the hotel. Small bar with good (western) food. Wifi is pretty bad! Super soft comfy beds. Bathrooms are not Japanese superclean, but acceptable. They have a shuttle bus to take you from station Nagano and back. '
