'lili kyoto is not a typical hotel. It is small — three units on the ground floor, probably about the same on the floor above (I didn’t take the elevator up to check). It is totally unstaffed; to get in the front door you must obtain a code from the owner/manager. I got mine by having a nice lady in the Kyoto railway station tourist office call the owner/manager, who promptly emailed instructions. The front “lobby” and hallway are unheated. There is no breakfast buffet, no vending machines, none...

'Meteen in de buurt van het station, dus je kunt met je koffers wandelen tot daar. Je zit dan ook meteen op Kawaramachi Doori, oftwel de hoofdstraat van Kyoto en meteen op een kwartier wandelen van het winkelcentrum. Mevrouw Midori is Chinese en geweldig lief, 24 uur bereikbaar. Ga lekker gezellig bij haar zitten en drink een biertje met haar !'

'Japanese style room was okay! It is located on a quiet residential area about 15 min walk from Kyoto central station. The reception was at a different place (next street) - you need to goto this place for checkin formalities. This was mentioned in the instructions email, nevertheless it was not convenient. Bathroom taps were old and not that handy. To get the desired temperature of hot+cold water, some amount of maneuvering is needed!'

'Aanvankelijk zeker niet okay, maar na een klacht bij het management werd alles prima geregeld zoals we het wilden hebben. De basis inrichting e.d laat te wensen over, ook de schoonmaak was bij aankomst niet in orde maar we kregen een dag later een verl betere kamer en elke dag werd er schoon gemaakt. '

'The location is easy to get to, but the beauty of the property is the property itself. The unit we were in was lovely and well cared for. The indoor and outdoor tubs were luxurious, the traditional breakfast was the perfect way to end our stay! Our hosts were lovely, welcoming, and thoughtful in the offering! 'A great place to visit the south/east side of Kyoto. Lovely building with good facilities and a cute garden as the pictures show. We stayed in mid/late February and found that it was rather cold, but this is normal for residential buildings in Japan. The air conditioner was used to heat the house and this was adequate. This is a spacious option for 2-4 people and a welcome change from western style hotels that tend to be more cramped.'
