At the edge of the idyllic wine village of Vila de Frades lies the holiday home overlooking the bell tower of Vidigueira, where the old sea-bell of Vasco da Gama, the Count of Vidigeira, still rings. Sao Cucufate, an ancient Roman archaeological site invites you to visit. Let yourself be pampered by the sun on the roof terrace or enjoy the shade on the terrace under the fig tree and do not miss a tasting of the excellent, local wine in one of the Adegas.
Stroll through the narrow streets of Vila de Frades and hike through the adjacent Serra de Mendro and the vineyards.
When you enter the house, you will find the bedroom on the right. The room on the left can be used as a bedroom as well as a second living room. The second door on the right leads to the bathroom with shower, washing machine and window to the garden.
A wooden staircase leads to the roof terrace and other rooms for free use.
Straight on to the living room with open kitchen and open fireplace, two sofas and another small bedroom with double bed, separated by a curtain.
From the living room you can enter the garden. It is big with flowers, yucca palm trees, fig trees, orange trees, lemon trees, olive trees and vines. The terrace is ideal for breakfast or barbecues. Enjoy the day under the fig tree on a brick corner seat.
In summer you can enjoy the large outdoor swimming pool in Vidigueira (1.5 km) with a cafe and sunbathing area,
The Atlantic west coast with beautiful beaches is about 100 km away. Make sure you make a day trip and let the evening in Vila de Frades end.
On hot days, a boat trip on the Alqueva dam offers. Start is in Amieira Marina (about 30 km), then dive into the medieval Reguengos de Monsaraz.
Very nice is also a day excursion starting with a stroll through Serpa, then a refreshing day at praia fluvial in Mina de Sao Domingos. Then a visit to the Moorish city of Mertola and a leisurely dinner in the Monte Pedral in Cuba (special tip :-))
then you come to dinner, good wine and nice people ... Vila de Frades!
