Ryokans in Shigaraki

'Beautiful and very clean'

'Great ryokan, but when I tried out one of the private onsens there were many tiles missing from the wall and there was an unpleasant smell. The public onsen (men’s) was lovely and everything was in good condition, so the quality of the private onsen seemed limited to that one spot. There are 4 other private onsens I did not try out. Staff was helpful and professional. Lots of charm to this place.'

'We had a great experience staying at Yumotokan. The dinner was exceptional (very filling!) and the rooms were clean, spacious, and comfortable. The variety of onsen baths was great, each one unique and beautiful. The futon beds were comfortable and the hotel was quiet. Loved our stay and would highly recommend to other travellers hoping for a ryokan experience that isn’t breaking the bank! '

'Overall a very wonderful Ryokan expierence! We paid for both the dinner and breakfast, both of which were very sensible and delicious. I do believe that it is worth the extra added cost, especially the dinner, which is served in our room. The breakfast was served in a dining room on the 2nd floor, which was still nice but definitely a different feeling. We had the choice to choose from three different time slots: I think we ate at 6:30PM (latest available) and 8:00 AM (2nd option). I will say...

'I would rate the service and staff higher than 5 star if possible. The service was exceptional even by Japanese standards. The Kaiseki and breakfast shouldn’t be missed. Do your self a favor and stay here. '
