'We were there about four nights after super typhoon Yagi devastated the area. Although very little was up and running around Halong Bay, the hotel was operating and we felt very fortunate to have a safe place with running water and electricity throughout our stay. 'I paid the price of a hotel for a homestay. The hotel is very informal. Reception was friendly but staff have no uniform. The hotel owner's family was using the lobby as their dinning room.
