This funky, eclectic guest house is your home away from home. The ocean is in the back yard of the Blue House and provides an uninterrupted view of Masset Inlet and the surrounding mountains. It is home to eagles, kingfishers, cranes, herons, swans, and deer. From the front door, you are less than a block to the pub or the grocery store. The house has a very open design. It is furnished with antiques and oddities, including a cookstove that is 100 years old, and Chinese pieces from the same time.
A funky, well-equipped kitchen includes dishwasher, stove and fridge for cooking up your catch of the day: crabs, clams, fish, deer or berries
You can launch canoe's and kayak's from your own back yard and paddle to Juskatla Narrows, a pristine and ecologically rich area. The gardens include many indigenous plants and lichens, and lots of comfortable spaces to sit and be.
The master bedroom has a queen-sized bed and clawfoot tub, from which you can watch the hours-long sunsets that Port Clements is famous for. Bedroom # 2 has a queen-sized bed and tons of room to stash your stuff. There is also a 6.5-foot long leather couch that is great to sleep on and tons of space for cots or mats.
The Blue House is a block from the long dock, which is set up for fishing right off the dock. Crab and prawns live in the inlet and you can cook them up in the back yard. The general store is half a block away and is reputed to carry the best produce on the island. Local growers offer organic produce and there seem to be berries to pick all season.
Centrally located, the Blue House is perfect for exploring the island. Port Clements is the gateway to the wilderness, with access to the west side of the island and Rennell Sound. It is 40 minutes to North Beach for swimming and surfing, dip netting crab, beachcombing, and incredibly lush-with-life tide pools. Go south 20 minutes to Tlell and local gift stores, farmers' markets and beautiful sandy beaches.
