Gooseberry Trailside Suites - Knife River Suite, offers a relaxing, cozy, and updated place to stay while you explore all the North Shore of Lake Superior has to offer. This property borders Gooseberry State Park, the most popular state park in Minnesota, with access to the Nordic skiing and mountain biking trail system right out the back door. Guest can also jump onto the Gitchi Gami State trail for those who want to bike or rollerblade on a smooth paved trail with access just across the road.

With the close proximity to Gooseberry Falls and Splitrock Lighthouse, as well as Two Harbors, Duluth, and Lutsen, there are year-round opportunities to venture out to go hiking, biking, skiing, snowshoeing, snowmobiling, sightseeing, swimming, and much more!

Great for groups both large and small, there are 4 - two-bedroom, one bath apartment style suites on the property that can be reserved individually or together. Comfortable accommodation
We enjoyed our time spent at this establishment. The unit was clean, there was nice bedding and the kitchen was well stocked with cooking utensils. We especially loved the wood burning fireplace and the sauna. It is in a very convenient location for exploring the North Shore . There is a good amount of noise from above but. It didn’t keep us awake. We would definitely stay here again.

My friend and I stayed for 2 nights in early February in the Knife unit (lower level). We were shocked at how cold the unit was when we got there, and somehow there is no thermostat or heating vents? There was a thermometer on the wall in the kitchen, and we weren't crazy/being freeze babies: it was 58 degrees when we arrived at 6:00 pm! So it's a cool unit lol. We found 2 space heaters (one in each bedroom), and there is a wood burning fireplace, so after turning on the space heaters to high and lighting a fire, we eventually got it up to 65 degrees. But the firewood provided? 4 split pieces, so basically two logs, and the storage shed with cut wood outside next to the sauna was locked. We went into Two Harbors and bought our own cord of wood, because we knew we'd need another fire to maintain a decent temp. Oh well, 7 for a cord was worth it to take the chill out! The beds were average, the couch and other amenities were comfortable, hot water was plentiful, and the location is convenient. Things to be aware of: you WILL hear every single step, dropped item, tv/music and anything said aloud if there are guests above you. Highway 61 is directly below the building, so traffic noise is readily heard. And FYI the winter trail for Gooseberry that is advertised is groomed cross country ski trails -- we went up to hike/snowshoe so not a huge deal, but we were hoping to be able to snowshoe out the door rather than drive to a park. All in all, it was ok, but not great.

A Cozy Retreat Perfect for Families
We had a wonderful stay at Knife River Gooseberry Trailside! The property was impeccably clean and equipped with great amenities, making it a perfect getaway for my two kids and me. The location was unbeatable-right across from the stunning Lake Superior and within easy reach of incredible hiking spots like White Sky Rock, Eagle Mountain trail, Grand Marais, Cascade River, and Gooseberry Falls State Park.The suite itself was warm and cozy, which was especially appreciated given how cold it was outside during our visit. My kids loved curling up by the fireplace, which made the whole experience feel extra special and relaxing.I highly recommend this property to anyone looking for a peaceful, comfortable place to stay while exploring the beautiful North Shore. We'll definitely be back!

We had to stay here because they allow dogs. The sauna was nice and we enjoyed the indoor fireplace. The beds were very squishy and not good for bad backs, the shower was very small, the sink had no place to put your toiletries (why they put everything on the bed), and they are very strict on dog noise.

Beautiful place to celebrate our wedding weekend!
Absolutely beautiful property with incredible views and an awesome layout. We rented all 4 condos to have the property to ourselves for our wedding weekend, and it couldn’t have been more perfect at the Trailside Suites! Highly recommend to anyone traveling to the North Shore!

Wonderful stay. If we are in the area again, we will definitely stay with 1 of your properties. Very relaxing. Next time though we will pay the extra and get the top condo. A nice addition would be a light under the counter in the .kitchen

We loved our stay here! It was very close to all the hikes we wanted to do in Tettegouche & Goodeberry. We really enjoyed the deck & outdoor fire pits. It was a cozy place for an early fall weekend getaway. The only negative was we were in the lower unit & you can hear all the footsteps from the people upstairs. We would definitely stay here again!

Great location. We hiked State park trails and biked to Gooseberry Falls, both right from property. Property amenities were very nice with firepit and sauna. Cabin was well stocked and very clean. I think we were hoping for a bit more lake view (distant, across highway, partial behind trees), but trail views were just lovely. Thanks for a great stay!

Great location and well supplied.
Great location near gooseberry state park. Easy to get to the park early morning before the crowds. The property was as described, clean, and well cared for. The kitchen was well supplied for cooking and the outdoor grill worked great. We were on a lower unit and you can hear walking/noise from the unit above, but was not a big issue for us. We found that the mattresses in the double room were very soft and sunken in. The mattress in the single room was fine.

We really enjoyed our time on the north shore. The apartment had everything we needed, full kitchen, and plenty of space for our dog. The shower is a bit small, but manageable. Close to state parks and beaches. We’d definitely come back again.

It is a beautiful property and location. The house is comfortable, making it easy to relax after a long day of hiking and exploring. We loved the sauna and relaxing in it after each of our days. When the microwave didn't work, the owners were there to give us a replacement and then fix it without interrupting our stay. It's a great place, and I would recommend it for your stay on the MN North Shore.

Gooseberry Falls Luxury
Wonderful. I wish I could just live there. Beautifully maintained property. The location is perfect for access to Gooseberry Falls State Park, Split Rock Lighthouse State Park and the Iona Beach State Nature and Scientific Area. Short drive to either Two Harbors or Silver Bay for restaurants or groceries. I would definitely recommend and hope to be back soon.

Great little place! Great location!
The property was central to all of our planned activities. The cabin was well appointed and we did not find it lacking for anything we needed when cooking. Lots of little extra touches like make-up remover wipes and extra toothbrushes/toothpaste packaged in little bags, which came in handy since my husband forgot his! The beds were very comfortable too, which is not always the case!

A good place to stay with our puppy
The lodgings were quite nice and very clean (no dogginess). The mowed-lawn part of the grounds were spacious enough for us to get a good walk in for our puppy. One bedroom had enough floor space to set up his crate comfortably. We totally missed all July 4th fireworks (hooray!).
