'We had a wonderful time. Our room was very clean and comfortable. Beautiful view of the water. Staff was friendly. We have stayed at a few other places in Sturgeon Bay but Bridgeport is our favorite. We book our stay for January and have stayed here 6 times in the last 10 years. My husband and I are in our 60's and are accustomed to using the stairs and seldom use an elevator. There is one elevator and the halls are long. 'The Birchwood Lodge was a very nice hotel, clean and well kept. We were there for New Years Eve and I wanted a hotel close to where the cherry was going to drop. The Birchwood Lodge was walking distance to the Cherry Drop on December 31. As I checked out, I notified the desk agent that they should check the switches and light bulbs. I think some lights were burned out. Otherwise, it was a great place to stay! Very comfortable. '

'Nice room. Easy to get too. Pet friendly!! My only negative comment would be regarding the “after hours” phone number. We had a toilet issue, had water on the floor, and the only number given was for lockout service, otherwise leave a message. Went to office right when they opened in the morning and a service person was there in under an hour to take care of it. But we worried all night about the need to use the toilet. Would definitely go back. '

'For an older lodge, this place is great. Seemingly recent updates to rooms. Great water views. **Bed was less than desireable, but i have a tempurpedic mattress at home so i am a bit spoiled. Very Hospitable. Dog friendly, no children under 12. Visited in off season so very quiet on the week nights. Door county is a unique place.
